Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions or if you want more details on anything below please contact me

There are basic questions that you should ask before choosing the right puppy. I have compiled a list of what I feel is important basic information you should know about your breeder. Even if you don't choose me to adopt your new puppy from, you should ask these questions to give you a better understanding of where your puppy is coming from.

I offer ongoing information and support to each of my past, present, and prospective new puppy owners. I hope that I have provided all that you need on these pages, but am happy to answer any questions or requests, and would be glad to hear from you.

How and where are your puppies raised?
I keep all of my dogs inside my home. They are all house trained and have professional obedience training.
What happens to your retired breeding dogs?
This is an important question. To so many kennels once a dog is retired it means more than retirement, it means replacing a "useless" dog with a "producer". My dogs are first and foremost my companions, they won't be treated any differently when they "retire" than I treat them now. I often get harassed when shopping because I will have the cart full of dog toys, snacks, bones etc. Since I have no children I spoil my dogs, probably more than I should. I am an advocate of environmental enrichment for all of my dogs. And couldn't imagine being without any of them.
At what age can the puppy go to it's new home?
If you are choosing to have your puppy delivered to you they can not be shipped until they are eight (8) weeks of age.
Do the puppies have any type of training prior to being sent to their new home?
Yes. I start training as soon as they start walking. Teaching them with a gently affirming presence. Since most dogs are typically toy motivated I have several small puppy toys I use to support positive behavior. I frequently use toys and treats that promote animal enrichment. At 6 weeks I start the formal house breaking process, the puppies are each taken outside on a strict schedule. They are also introduced to basic commands like sit, kennel, and come here. I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and use their techniques to train my dogs and puppies.
Can we choose a different name for the puppy?
Yes, the name on the website is for reference purposes only. You are welcome to choose any name you would like for your puppy.
Are you affiliated with any clubs or associations?

Yes, I belong to several clubs and organizations.

I am a member of the Missouri Pet Breeders Association.

I am active in my local dog club and volunteer time for an organization that specializes in training dogs to help those with disabilities or special needs.

Do you have references?

My Privacy Policy :
Yes. several. I do not post them on the website for confidentially reasons.

Please be assured that I will keep all your information strictly confidential. I will not add your name to any mailing lists or give out your information without your permission to be used as a reference. However if you would like to share puppy stories, pictures, or become a reference please let me know. I love keeping posted on my puppies progress.
Are your dogs registered?

If so with what registry?

Yes, all of my dogs are registered with the AKC and all of my puppies will come with AKC registration papers.

This is an important question to ask, BE SPECIFIC. I have talked with a lot of dog breeders throughout the years and they will say "yes they are registered" but they will fail to tell you whom they are registered with, or that the puppy's can be registered. Make sure you get a firm answer. You may even want to ask for the sire and dams AKC numbers to verify registration, along with what your puppy's AKC number is. I feel it is important to be registered with the AKC.
What guarantees do you offer with your puppies?
I have ensured that appropriate health certifications have been performed to check for serious hereditary health defects. I also provide routine preventative health care and regular examinations by a licensed Veterinarian. I have developed an enrichment program for my dogs and puppies, which meet nutritional and dietary requirements. For this reason I am able to offer up to a two year written health guarantee with confidence for the newest member of your family. Please see the guarantee section of the website for detailed information.
Do you require spay/neuter contracts on your puppies?
No, although I encourage you to have your puppy spayed/neutered I do not contractually require it. I place all of my puppies as family pets, if you are interested in breeding please contact me for more specific information. I have no limitations on AKC registrations unless noted.
Where can you ship and how much does it cost?
I can arrange transportation via airline to most major airports in North America and some international destinations. Please see the Shipping / Delivery section of the website for detailed information.
What type of payment options do you accept?

I accept and perfer PalPal

I accept all major credit cards.

I also accept PayPal. Paying a "Verified" member with PayPal is one of the safest ways to adopt your puppy. With PayPal you can pay with a Major Credit card or Bank Account using their secure server. This allows you to adopt a puppy without having to provide me with any of your credit card or bank information. PayPal is one of the most trusted payment processing companies and is how most transactions are completed with eBay and over 100,000 other on-line sites.
What things can I look for to protect myself when adopting a puppy on-line?

Next Day Pets - ID VERIFIED

PayPal Verified Member - 07/01/2002

Both PayPal and Next Day Pets offer an "ID Verified" option for members who use their services. They are not affiliated with any one breeder or business.

Next Day Pets says; "If you are an honest person and not a scammer, or an individual attempting to sell sick puppies, you should have no problem becoming ID Verified."

To become Verified with PayPal one must provide proof that he or she has opened an account at a bank or other financial institution in the United States. Because these institutions are required by law to screen account holders, PayPal's verification process increases security when you pay parties you do not know. You should always consider other indicators when evaluating members, including length of PayPal membership.

I have been a Verified member since July 1st, 2002.
Since I have never adopted a puppy on the Internet, how does the process work?
The actual process of adopting a puppy on-line is very simple.

The first step is making sure one of my puppies is right for you. Every family is looking for different personality traits. For example; will they be good with kids, other pets, or even specialty traits for obedience or service dog work. Please contact me to discuss any particular trait you would be looking for. If you decide that one of my puppies is right for your family we would start by placing a deposit. This deposit would secure your puppy of choice for your family. After placing the deposit we go to work setting up travel arrangements. I can arrange flights to most major airports. Once the flight is booked the balance of the adoption would be due.
If I am unable to keep the puppy what is your policy?
I realize sometimes that circumstances change. You may be forced to move into an area that isn't pet friendly. You or your family may decide that taking care of a puppy really isn't something they want to do after all. Health or allergy may prevent you from giving proper care or attention to your puppy. At any time during your puppies lifetime I will always welcome it back, regardless of the reason or age, no questions asked. I want to make sure all of my puppies stay happy and are well cared for. If you ever have to give up your puppy please contact me before giving it away to a stranger or releasing it to a shelter/adoption facility. If you return the puppy for any reason, it will be on a surrender basis only with no refund or credit.
